Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini to Singapore investors: come as partners, not just investors
CHANDIGARH. Logistics parks, townships in Gurugram, global tech centres and next-generation factories are where Haryana wants Singapore’s money. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini put these four sectors before top Singaporean industrialists at the SING (Singapore India Network for Growth) Forum in Singapore on Sunday and promised them faster approvals.
Saini said his goal is to make Haryana not just an industrial powerhouse but India’s innovation capital. The state, he said, has moved beyond ease of doing business to speed of doing business.
Logistics and infrastructure: Haryana sits between North India’s biggest consumption and manufacturing markets. Saini said its expressways, economic corridors and freight links make it a natural fit for Singapore’s logistics and supply chain firms.
Urban development and real estate: With Haryana urbanising fast, the CM invited Singapore, known worldwide for planned cities, to partner in integrated townships, commercial projects and modern urban infrastructure in and around Gurugram.
Technology and GCCs: Gurugram is already home to many global companies. Saini asked Singaporean firms to set up their technology, digital, finance and professional capability centres there.
Advanced manufacturing: Haryana’s automobile and engineering base is now moving into electronics, semiconductors and other future industries. The CM said this matches Singapore’s strengths in technology and manufacturing.
“We see you not merely as investors, but as long-term partners. Singaporean companies should come to Haryana, invest, establish businesses, develop talent and serve the market across North India,” Saini said.
He said investors would get support and certainty along with land and incentives, and their time should go into business and growth, not files. The CM asked investors to visit Gurugram, Manesar and the state’s industrial clusters and tell the government what they want to build. “We will work with you to build it. The relationship between the government and industry should not be limited to giving and receiving approvals; it should be a partnership,” he said.
Education deal already in place
Saini pointed to Haryana’s recent tie-up with Singapore-based Global Schools Group to build world-class K-12 schools in the state. The project is expected to create about 2,000 direct and indirect jobs.
Old ties, new push
Singapore money is not new to Haryana. In 2017, the state signed five MoUs with Singaporean companies worth over S$3.8 billion (about ₹18,000 crore at the time), covering logistics, townships, aviation, smart cities, wellness and power. Ascendas-Singbridge built the International Tech Park in Gurugram.
Saini said that base now needs to go to the next level. “Singapore has global expertise, while Haryana has the scale of India’s growth story,” he said, adding that ties must move “from dialogue to delivery”.
