Nayab Saini cuts pay of three officials, suspends patwari in Gurugram
Gurugram. Two municipal officials who created property IDs without approval will lose half their salary for three months and be moved out of Haryana’s NCR districts, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini ordered on Wednesday.
Saini gave the order while chairing the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee meeting in Gurugram. At the same meeting, he suspended a patwari of the Municipal Corporation Gurugram for misbehaving with a citizen and docked one month’s salary of a PWD executive engineer over poor road restoration work.
The committee took up 15 complaints. Saini disposed of 11 on the spot. The remaining four will stay pending until the next meeting, where officials must submit status reports on the action taken.
₹2,000 crore for new buildings in 400 government schools
While hearing a complaint about the renovation of a school building, Saini said the state has approved a plan worth over ₹2,000 crore to improve infrastructure in government schools. More than 400 government schools will get new buildings by the end of December 2027.
“Our aim is to give students a better learning environment and modern facilities,” he said.
Property IDs made without approval
The strongest action came on a complaint from the Municipal Council Pataudi-Jatauli Mandi area. An inquiry found that the then building inspector and municipal engineer had created property IDs without prior approval from the competent authority and without following the set procedure.
Saini ordered a 50% salary cut for both officials for three months, chargesheets against them and their transfer outside Haryana’s NCR districts.
“Negligence in government work and disregard for rules will not be tolerated,” Saini said. “Officials must be held accountable in matters that affect the public.”
Patwari suspended during hearing
The patwari’s case surfaced while the committee was hearing a citizen’s grievance. Once it emerged that the patwari had misbehaved with the complainant, Saini ordered an immediate suspension.
“Every officer and employee must treat citizens with dignity and respect,” he said. “People come to government offices to get their work done. Misbehaviour with them, or ignoring their grievances, will not be accepted under any circumstances.”
PWD engineer loses a month’s pay
On a complaint that road restoration work was not done to the required standard, Saini ordered the deduction of one month’s salary of the executive engineer concerned of the Public Works Department.
He said road construction and restoration must be done on time and to standard, and directed officials to monitor development projects regularly.
Public toilets in Gurugram, Manesar to be inspected
Acting on complaints about dirty and poorly kept public toilets, Saini ordered an inspection across both municipal corporations. Three-member committees, each with one government official, will be set up through the grievance committee in every zone. They will check toilets in all six zones of the Municipal Corporation Gurugram and both zones of the Municipal Corporation Manesar, and report within a month.
Arrangements for better upkeep and regular cleaning will be made on the basis of these reports.
“Solving public grievances on priority and delivering quality services on time is the shared duty of every officer and employee,” Saini said.
Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Pataudi MLA Bimla Chaudhary, Sohna MLA Tejpal Tanwar and Gurugram MLA Mukesh Sharma attended the meeting.
Also present were Principal Advisor to the Urban Development Department DS Dhesi, GMDA CEO PC Meena, Commissioner of Police Shibas Kabiraj, Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh, HSVP Administrator Vaishali Singh, Manesar Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Singh, OSD to the Chief Minister Vivek Kalia, ADC Sonu Bhatt, CTM Jyoti Nagpal and BJP Gurugram Mahanagar district president Ajit Yadav.
