Haryana CM Saini puts land parcels at centre of Singapore investment pitch

CHANDIGARH. Want to assess a piece of land in Haryana for investment? The state is pitching a system that lets investors select a specific land parcel and access investment-related information about that location at one place.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini highlighted the system during a fireside chat at the SING Forum in Singapore on Monday as part of Haryana’s pitch to prospective investors.

Saini said Haryana’s investment proposition is also backed by more than 270 Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and a strong automotive ecosystem. He said investors can look beyond Gurugram and NCR to locations offering land, industrial infrastructure and room for expansion.

Haryana has also set up a dedicated Merlion Desk to fast-track investment proposals from Singapore. Saini said around 20-30 major companies had been identified before his visit, with officials holding e-meetings with several prospective investors. During the visit, several companies submitted investment proposals or expressed investment intentions.

“If any company invests in Haryana in the coming period, I would consider the visit a success,” Saini said.

The state is also promising a faster incentive cycle. Saini said 10 new policies were introduced in June, with 50% of eligible incentives to be provided within seven working days and the remaining amount within 45 days.

On industrial water requirements, he said the needs of high-water-consuming industries and projects at specific locations are assessed in advance. Haryana is also promoting treated and recycled water.

Saini said medium-sized companies need not restrict themselves to existing industrial clusters and can develop their own ecosystems in Haryana.

“If they want to write the next chapter of their growth in India, Haryana can be their strong and reliable partner,” he said. This lead is much more specific, visual and curiosity-driven: What can an investor see by selecting a piece of land? That makes it less like a government press release and more like a genuine business story.
