CM Saini: Haryana’s exports will double in five years
Chandigarh. Haryana wants its overseas sales of goods to grow two-fold by 2030-31, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said on Tuesday. The state’s goods exports stood at $20.57 billion last financial year.
Speaking through a video message at a state-level workshop on free trade agreements (FTAs) in Gurugram, Saini asked industries, MSMEs, farmers and entrepreneurs to make full use of India’s trade deals with other countries and find new buyers abroad.
He said India’s growing trade ties with the world have opened new doors for Haryana’s businesses. The state must use its strong manufacturing base and skilled workforce to grow its presence in foreign markets, he added.
The Chief Minister said reaching the goal will need a focused policy, strong support from government bodies and regular talks with industry.
Where Haryana stands now
In 2025-26, Haryana exported goods worth $20.57 billion. That was a growth of 7.66% over the previous year. The state’s share in India’s total goods exports was 4.66%.
Haryana ranks sixth among states and Union Territories in exports. Its products now reach more than 200 countries and territories.
What doubling will take
Doubling exports would mean crossing $41 billion a year. For that, exports must grow by nearly 15% every year for five years, about twice last year’s pace. If growth stays at 7.66%, exports would reach only about $30 billion by 2030-31.
About the workshop
The workshop was organised by the state’s Directorate of MSME with the Union Commerce Department and the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). The India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) was the knowledge partner.
It aimed to explain to local businesses the tariff cuts and rules of origin under India’s FTAs, and to help them deal with non-tariff barriers abroad.
Central and state officials, exporters, trade experts and export promotion councils took part. Separate sessions covered textiles and apparel, food processing, and engineering goods, including automobiles and auto parts.
